It's not straight forward but it's doable. I remeber my jump was 1.5 feet when I was starting to play basketball and what I did was consistent jump practice with milestones and a lot of squats. Hiking helps a lot as well to make your legs more flexible.

This does work, I used to do it in my teens, and it worked like a charm. But the key to get the success in increasing your jump height is consistently trying to break your records and training on things like stairs or the boxes the gym has for practicing jumping.
