I used to do these assignments for my engineering friends in university they were Arab and did't know much about writing and honestly loved it. It was really easy. You need to know the specs for a product and describe what it is, what parts it has and how all those parts come into play and how the product functions also sometimes had to write about how to opporate the product as well. To learn how to do technical writing i woudl recommend looking up technical discriptions on different industry leading products on amazon or like the product manuals you might have at home. Sometimes you need to know legal terms as well but mostly the legal team of a company can help out in that fine text.

Yeah I agree the best way to be a better writer in a specific Niche is by reading the most of the inspiration you can gain from the research material. This works for all kinds of writing fields. And for technical writing there are a few rules we need to follow so that the content is usable and understandable from users and reader.
