I'm thinking that as skills-based hiring replaces degree-based hiring, certificate programs and online training (much of which is affordable) become much more appealing.
Skills-Based Hiring Is on the Rise (hbr.org)
I started off with this course on Coursera. Within two weeks, I was able to pass the first certificate course in the 6-segment Project Management Series, entitled Foundations of Project Management. Other affordable courses at a glance include Mathematics for Understanding Machine Learning - a course for beginners!
It has been a game-changer for me to realize that continuing education doesn't have to mean leaving the workforce to get a second degree. And if I had been unemployed, adding one of these certificates to my resume and highlighting it in my interviews could have been a game-changer.
Google Project Management: Professional Certificate | Coursera
I mean Coursera is great, but I would still opt for a bootcamp with live training in the classes, I've gotten a few Coursera certificates on the company Coursera, but I've seen boot camps to be more effective for me.
It DOES!, Skills are handy everywhere, sometimes we can't match our degrees for a job posting and the only thing that comes in handy are your skills especially if it's like labor work like carpeting and plumbing, Skills go a long way in a successful career!
These courses are just bliss! I love how they are structured and have the embeded assignments in them that just make learning super easy for everyone. Plus no specific due dates like in traditional education and you can learn on the go as well.
That's true and it's always amazing to have these skills from these courses, and especially the google certifications, I got my last promotion just because of the courses and experience I have gained from working much more that my conventional education degrees.
